AUDITIONS FOR SCHOOL PLAY NEXT WEEK - Hey LHS! It’s time for the Drama Play Production: “Welcome to the Monkey House” by that nutty writer Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel.   The setting is the future, with everyone going ape! Auditions will be on Monday the 9th and Tuesday the 10th of November in the auditorium from 2:50-4:30. Callbacks will be Thursday in room 411.     Auditions are open to all. 
 
HEARTWELL PONY LEAGUE SIGN-UPS - Sundays, Nov 8 15.  1 pm.-1:30 pm. @ Mayfair Park on Clark Ave. north of Candlewood St.  and  2pm. - 3 pm. @ Mae Boyar Park on Del Amo Blvd. east of PaloVerde Ave.   This is for 13 14 year olds (as of April 30, 2010) the season runs March - July.  For information call (562) 429-5438.  Thanks, Coach O'Neil.
 
HOMEROOM REP MEETING – Don’t forget to send a rep. on Tuesday to the auditorium for the Homeroom rep. meeting.
 
GRAD NITE CONTRACTS – Grad Nite will be on campus at lunch TODAY to sell contracts.
 
REPORT CARD PARENT NIGHT -LHS Report Card Parent Night, Thursday, November 19 from 4 – 7 p.m.
Report Cards will not be mailed home, they must be picked up by your parents at school on Report Card Parent Conference Night.
 
THE LAST ACT DEADLINE IS TODAY!  - Seniors - This is your VERY LAST CHANCE to take a college entrance exam for the CSU or UC applications.  You only have the December ACT with writing test left to take.  Go to www.actstudent.org to register for the December 12th ACT with Writing online by midnight tonight.  THIS IS THE VERY LAST DEADLINE!
 
SENIORS - CAL GRANT APPLICATIONS ARE DUE TODAY!  - Don't miss out on free money!  Stop by the Career Center today to fill out your Cal Grant application.  It will take less than five minutes and it could be worth up to $9,708 in free money!
 
THE NEXT SERVICE LEARNING DEADLINE IS ONE WEEK AWAY - All mid-September through October volunteer hours are due to the Career Center by next Friday, November 13th.  See the Service Learning page on School Loop (under Student Activities) to print out Service Learning Logs or to find more information about upcoming volunteer opportunities.
 
UC SANTA BARBARA AT LAKEWOOD ON TUESDAY - Our UCSB representative will be in the Career Center on Tuesday at lunch.  Find out more about the majors offered at UCSB, the UC application, tips on your personal statement, and scholarships available at UCSB.
 
PALMS ACADEMY TOY DRIVE - PALMS Academy is sponsoring a toy drive for local needy children and youth during the month of November.  Drop off a $10 unwrapped toy or gift card at the following rooms- 99, 220, 816, or 302.  Thank you for helping us to help others!
 
PROJECT SHEPHERD – Need hours? For each bag of can foods you bring in from November 2nd - December 1st you will receive 1 hour of community service. Please help support Project Shepherd.
 
 
CAREER SECTION
 
CAL STATE APPLICATION IS OPEN ONLINE - Seniors - You can start your Cal State application online.  The Cal State application is at www.csumentor.edu.  Make sure that you aim to complete and submit your CSU application by November 8th.
