LANCER SECTION

ATTENTION STUDENTS.  THE CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION AND NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY - Is accepting applications.  See your English teacher or pick up an application in room 908.  A copy of last semester's report card is needed to process the application.  Application deadline is September 28th.  See Mrs. Brandts or Mrs. Taylor for details.

HOMECOMING AUDITIONS – Sign up to audition for homecoming week rallies at the ASB office.  Auditions will be held after school from Oct 1st to Oct. 3rd.

FRENCH CLUB CREPE DAY – Come to French club in room 424 today at lunch to try the popular French dessert crepes.

TABLE TENNIS CLUB Is looking for new members. We meet in B99, Mr. Freeman’s room, Tuesdays at lunch.

ATTENTION CURRENT CSF/NHS MEMBERS - Please plan on meeting in room 912 during lunch, Thursday, September 27th to discuss fundraising during homecoming.  

ATTENTION AP 11TH AND 12TH GRADERS- Are you looking to earn some extra money, and are good with tutoring others? Please consider applying for a job as an on campus after school AP Peer Tutor. Some requirements include having a 3.0 GPA or more, are a current AP student, and have taken an AP test. Please pick up an application from your AP teacher or come to the Counseling Office room 145 and ask Mrs. Cangro for more details. The last day to submit an application is Friday, September 28th. 

FIDM HERE AT LUNCH TODAY – The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising will be in the College and Career Center today at Lunch.  Come learn about the many opportunities available for you at FIDM. 

STUDENT AMBASSADORS MEETING TODAY - Student Ambassadors, you’ll be meeting in Room 332A, next door to the College and Career Center, for today’s meeting.

COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOPS TODAY AFTER SCHOOL – Seniors, if you want to get a head start on your college applications, stop by the College and Career Center after school today or any Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.  The College Advisors will be available to help with personal statements, academic resumes, and college applications. 

STUDENT POLLWORKER APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO WEDNESDAY – Stop by the College and Career Center to pick up a Student Pollworker application if you’re at least 16 years old and have at least a 2.5 overall GPA.  You could earn $140 for training and working on Election Day in November, helping people to vote.  The deadline has been extended to Wednesday.

HOMECOMING BOOTH MEETING – There will be a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 26th for any clubs interested in having a homecoming booth.  Please send the club president or a representative to the activities office at lunch on Sept. 26th.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN CAREERS IN HEALTH CARE? - Would you like opportunities to develop leadership skills and explore what the health care industry has to offer? Well, come find out more HOSA. HOSA stands for Health Occupations Students of America. Join us in room 827 at lunch every Wednesday

IF YOU LIKE TO SURF - Come and bring your lunch on Thursdays to room 422. We can watch surf videos and plan some surfing meet ups on the weekends. Maybe even start a surf team?

LAKEWOOD’S GOT TALENT!  - Attention all singers, dancers, musicians, and every talent in between. Register for our very own talent show on September 29th—Lakewood’s Got Talent! $25 per solo or group act is due by September 21st.  Top acts can earn a cash prize! For more information please come to room 505 aka the band room.

MATH CIRCLE, - We are partnering with the American Mathematical Society and will be competing in the first round of the Who Wants To Be A Mathematician qualifying test this September. The Math Circle will meet every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this year.

THE LIGHTHOUSE CLUB – Is participating in the national "Take Your Bible to School Day".  Join thousands of other people on Thursday, October 4th by bringing your Bible to school.  Come to room 309 at lunch to find out why the Bible is one of the most important and read book in history!

DO YOU ENJOY READING BOOKS? Are you looking for others who like to read? Come to Book Club meetings every Tuesday at lunch in room 426.

TOASTMASTERS FOR FRESHMEN – Helps improve public speaking skills and confidence.  It is a great opportunity for freshmen to come out of their shells. Please come join us today and every Wednesday at lunch in Ms. Acuna’s class room 403.

INTERESTED IN ALL THINGS DISNEY?  -Want to learn the history or discovery the secrets? Come discuss Mickey to Marvel to Monsters Inc. in room 703 at lunch on Thursdays with the 1955 Disney Club

ANY STUDENT INTERESTED IN HELPING THE COMMUNITY, - Giving aid to natural disaster victims, and wanting to take action to make change then the One World Club is for you.  You will learn about cultural awareness, and how you can become socially conscious global citizens of change around the world. LOOKING FOR A JOB? – Remember that our new Job Developer, Ms. Covington-Todd, is at Lakewood every Monday through Thursday.  If you visit her in Room 326, she’ll show you all of the latest job openings available and will also help you put together a resume.

UC NIGHT ON OCTOBER 1ST – Would you like to learn more about all of the University of California schools including UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Berkeley, and UC San Diego?  Mark your calendar for UC Night on Monday, October 1st from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm in the Cabrillo High School Auditorium.  Find out about the UC admission requirements, get an overview of the UC application, and take advantage of the unique opportunity to connect directly with UC admissions counselors.
