LANCER SECTION

 

APPLY FOR SHARP NOW – Come to the ASB office and pick up a SHARP application. Turn it in with a copy of your June report card.

 

THE ONE WORLD CLUB - Will have their first meeting today at lunch in room 2110.  Anyone interested in creating change for good, learn cultural awareness, be involved in humanitarian work, and service learning, then join the One World Club. Become a socially conscious global citizens of change by taking action. We meet every Wednesday at lunch in Room 2110 beginning today.

 

IMPROV AUDITIONS – Do you like comedy or acting?  Making people laugh?  We’re having Improv auditions on Wednesday, Sept. 25th afterschool from 3-4pm in room 717.  See you there!

 

JOIN SENIOR SENATE – Come support the class of 2020.  We meet on Thursday’s at lunch in room 6203.  Let’s make this year great!

 

HELLO STUDENTS. Would you like to learn skills that will help you with life after Lakewood? The new Life 101 Club is meeting every Thursday at lunch in Room 10204. Each week a topic students have chosen will be presented by Ms. Weber or an outside speaker. Topics will be establishing credit, getting an apartment, registering to vote, insurance, etc. Please come Thursdays at lunch. See you there.

THE DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS CLUB - Is having a quick meeting about the club fundraiser. It will be today, September 18th at the beginning of lunch in room B91. The meeting will only last 15 minutes. If you still want to be in this new club it is not too late.

HEALTH PROFESSIONS CAREER EXPOSURE SUMMIT TOMORROW – If you’re thinking about a becoming a doctor, a physician assistant, a veterinarian, or any other related healthcare professional, you should go to tomorrow’s Health Care Professions Career Exposure Summit.  The event is being held at LBCC, the Liberal Arts Campus in Room T-1100 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  For more information, stop by the College and Career Center in Room 2112.

 

LOOKING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS? – Seniors, pick up the Local Scholarship Application today in Room 2112.  With one application, you’ll be applying for more than 50 different scholarships that you can use at colleges all over the country, include community college.  Also, if you’re planning on majoring in something in the health care field, there are 10 additional scholarships currently available to check out in the College and Career Center.

 

WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADVERTISE YOUR CLUB? – Drop a club flyer off in Room 2112 with the date and time of your club meetings so that more students can find out about your club when visiting the College and Career Center.

IT’S TIME TO PICK YOUR HOMEROOM REPRESENTATIVES- Any student who wishes to be a Homeroom Representative must have at least a 2.0 grade point average. The period 4 homeroom teacher may conduct an election or appoint a representative. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, Sept 18 in the cafeteria. During these meetings, students have the chance to bring up issues and concerns that will be addressed by the principals, activity director and/or student council members.  Homeroom Representatives need to check into their period 4 class before attending the Homeroom Rep. Meetings.  Teachers may only send one (1) representative.  If he/she cannot attend, than the alternate may take his/her place.  Students, ask your teacher if you can serve as a Homeroom Rep!

ATTENTION STUDENTS - Applications for the California Scholarship Federation and the National Honor Society are being accepted for Fall 2019.  Applications are available in the Activities Office or your English teacher. Applications are due to Mrs. Brandts in room 2211 on September 27th.  See application for further details.   

CURRENT CSF/NHS MEMBERS - Must attend the meeting on Thursday, September 19th in Mrs. Taylor’s room 2209.  Topics include Gold L points, community service projects, fundraising efforts and electing club officers.  

THE GIRLS GOLF TEAM - Is looking for more interested golfers.  You must have transportation to and from the golf course daily, have some clubs and want to compete.  No experience necessary.  Stop by and see coach McWhorter in room 2206 to learn more.  Time is running out, so stop by ASAP.

 

CLUB SECTION

 

CALLING ALL GAMERS - Time to put together this year's eSports team.  Come to room 10102 on Tuesdays to get ready to compete.  All are welcome - the fall season starts soon, so you have to stop by pronto!

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN HOW NOT TO GET HACKED? Want to compete cyber security competitions? Come to the computer club on Mondays in Mr. Ottina’s room, 10104, at Lunch.

WANT TO JOIN DISNEY CLUB  -We meet on Thursdays at lunch in 10102. We talk about all things Disney and Marvel. All are welcome.

 

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS – Well, we are forming a dungeons and dragons club and we are meeting at B91 at lunch on Thursday, Sept. 12th for an informational meeting for the club.

CAREER CENTER SECTION

 

GET HELP WITH COLLEGE APPLICATIONS – Seniors, the University of California application is open online.  If you’re going to apply to one of the nine UC campuses or to any private or out-of-state colleges, you can stop by the College and Career Center to get help deciding which colleges you’re going to apply to and get help working on the applications.  If you want to apply to a Cal State or community college, those applications will open online on October 1st along with the financial aid applications.

 

COME MEET OUR NEW COLLEGE ADVISORS – All students and staff are welcome to stop by to meet our new College Advisors who are here to help explore college options, majors, scholarships and grants, and life after high school.  Stop by the College and Career Center in Room 2112 to say “hi” and get your questions answered about college.
