Saturday School

In an effort to improve attendance and academic achievement, Lakewood High School is implementing Saturday School, a program designed for students who have unverified absences (truancies), unexcused or other absences. By attending Saturday School your child will be able to make-up previously missed hours and avoid significant consequences for continued truancies (the School Attendance Review Board process.) Attendance is mandatory.

  • April 30
  • May 7
  • May 14
  • May 21
  • June 4

  • The student should arrive by 7:45 a.m.; late students may not be admitted
  • Students meet under the 6000 building
  • Free school lunch is provided on a limited basis
  • Students should plan to remain at LHS for 4 hours (8 a.m. to 12 noon) to receive credit
  • There is zero tolerance for misbehavior, defiance, and non-compliance with school rules; students who violate the LHS school of conduct code will be released, and NO attendance credit will be credited
  • One Saturday school session (4 hours) will clear 1 full day of an unverified absence and 4 tardies
  • Students who are assigned and do not attend may be referred to the SARB (School Attendance Review Board)

Students who attend Saturday school MAY participate in enrichment studies that include some or all of the following:

  • Khan Academy exercises
  • Math assignments
  • English assignments
  • Character building activities
  • Study skills review

Note: Assignments are given, assigned, or unlocked (a date extension in Canvas) at the discretion of the teacher. Students should always discuss academic concerns including make-up work with the teacher privately or via email.

Thank you for your support in your student’s school success, we hope that this experience will have a positive influence on your student’s attendance and work habits.

Many Thanks,
