Technology Standards

With technology, it is easy to access other people's work. Make sure you are doing it correctly. The video below explains copyright law in a fun way.
Software Needed
Word Processing:
Office 2003 is the LBUSD standard
Word documents created in Visa will not open on any computer on campus. They need to be converted to Word 2003 files or Rich Text Format (RTF)
Due to contractual agreements between LBUSD and Microsoft MS WORKS WordPerfect file will not open on any computer at Lakewood High School
Open Office is a free alternative and can save files in the Office 2003 standard
It is recommended that students convert any word processing document to RTF to avoid any compatibility issues.
Student may also use Google Docs.
Presentations:

PowerPoint presentations created in Visa files will not open on any computer on campus they need to be converted to PowerPoint 2003. Keynote presentations created with a Macintosh will not open on any computer at Lakewood High School.

Student may also use Google Slides.
Video Production:
Microsoft Moviemaker is the ATM standard
Quicktime (MOV) files will not open in Moviemaker. This is the common file format of most digital cameras and iPods
MPEG-2 files will not open in Moviemaker. This is another common file format used in some digital cameras, camera phones, and newer “tapeless” video camera
Moving Files between Home and School:
Most computers on campus accept USB Flash drives. However, older computers including room 715 and 811 do not support USB Flash drives.
There are no computers on campus that will accept any type of SD memory card like those used in digital cameras and mobile phones.
It is recommended that students use their LBUSD Google Drive to save and access work from school and home.
