Meet the ATM Team

Mr. Flanagan received his Bachelor's from CSULB in History. He is currently pursuing a Master's Degree at his Alma Mater in Curriculum & Instruction. This is his 3rd year at Lakewood where he teaches AP US Government and Politics, AP Macroeconomics, US Government & Economics.  Outside of school, Mr. Flan Man's life generally revolves around 90s/00s hip-hop, rock music, Rick and Morty, cooking, and saving for travel. Ms. Saucedo is the ATM lead teacher. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University and a Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction from CSULB (go Beach!) This is her third year as an 11th grade English teacher and AVID teacher at Lakewood High School. When not grading essays, Ms. Saucedo loves spending time with her huge family, traveling and attending sporting events, especially baseball and football. Go Dodgers!!!

Mr. Hayes is our Administrative Principal at Lakewood High School. Born and raised in San Diego, he moved to Long Beach on a football scholarship to CSULB where he received his B.A. in Industrial Arts with a focus on Electronics. He also received his Master of Science in Occupational Studies at the Beach! Long Beach is where Mr. Hayes met his wife and became a father to his awesome children and two dogs.

Mr. Romo has been a Lancer for the last ten years. Before teaching at Lakewood, he received a B.A. English and M.F.A. in Creative Writing. He currently teaches 9th grade ATM English as well as being our only Creative Writing 1-2 teacher on campus.  When asked to tell us a little about himself, Mr. Romo said, “I'm a writer and the author of three books of poetry. I can be found creating poems, lifting weights, and riding my bike in the LBC. And I bleed Dodger Blue... a lot.”


Mr. Ottina has been a teacher for 17 years. He graduated from UCI with a B.A. in Social Sciences and received a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from CSULB.  Mr. Ottina has taught many levels of mathematics at Lakewood, but he is currently teaching Exploring Computer Science and AP Computer Science A. When not igniting the minds of our techie students, he enjoys racing sailboats!

Mr. Montes is a long-term substitute teacher with us. He is currently teaching the 9th grade ATM course Information Technology. As a graduate of CSUF with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Mr. Montes enjoys bringing his real-world experience to students. When asked to tell us something interesting about himself he recalled his 8th grade self and how he accepted that he would be the biggest reason for my future failures and successes.  “I am fortunate to be here at LHS to help ignite the next generation to push forward and never give up!” 

Mr. Tang is a graduate of CSUDH! He has been teaching for 14 years and is currently ATM’s Algebra 2 teacher. When not teaching or coaching badminton (which he has done for 10 years), he enjoys spending time with his three young sons. 

Ms. Zell is a product of LBUSD K-12 schools. As a Lakewood High School Alum, she is proud to have participated in Link Crew, ASB and softball during her time here. After Lakewood, she earned a full-ride scholarship for softball to Boise State University where she earned her B.A. in Mathematics with an Emphasis in Secondary Education. She then went on to CSULB for an M.A. in Math Education. Ms. Zell is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Administrative Leadership at UCI. After four years of teaching, Ms. Zell has come full circle and is back at Lakewood teaching AP Calculus BC & Algebra 1 as well as coaching softball. Go Wood!

Mrs. Bobo is an Alumni of CSULB where she received her Bachelor's in Biology and Mississippi State University where she earned her Masters in Geoscience. She has been a teacher for 14 years. Not only does she teach AP Biology & Accelerated Biology but Mrs. Bobo also coaches the Girl's Tennis team at Lakewood. Outside of school, her time  is spent with her three year old daughter and one year old son. She enjoys traveling, hiking, playing sports and rooting on her favorite sports teams. Go Dodgers!

Tom McNamee is an Alumni of Lakewood High School and of CSULB where he received his Bachelor's in English (creative writing) and minor in marketing.  He was always interested in technology so he completed his masters with Full Sail University in Educational / Media Design and Technology.  Since then, he has completely transitioned in computer science where he is now teaching AP Computer Science Principles and Product Design.  Mr. McNamee has taught for 12 years and has also been the boys tennis coach for 20 years.  Outside of school - he is a Disney fan (formally worked with Disney for 10 years), into all sports (Go Lakers) and being a dad and husband.

Mr. Murphy received his B.A. from UCSB, his M.A. in Education from Walden University and M.A. in Educational Leadership from CSU Pomona. In 1994, he began his teaching career at Lakewood High School as a history teacher and baseball coach. Since then, he has coached numerous sports, served in various leadership positions and taught a variety of courses.  He is currently teaching AP United States History and Honors United States History. After working with hundreds of teachers and students, Mr. Murphy looks forward to working with more great people!

Miss Teran is ATM’s Senior English teacher. She teaches AP English Literature as well as Multicultural Literature. She is a graduate of CSULB with both her B.A. and her Master’s in English Literature. After her early professional years in social work and retail, Miss Teran realized that she enjoyed working with teenagers. She is now teaching her most beloved subject, Literature and Language Arts for 23 years.

Mr. Goldfischer is a graduate of Rutgers University where he received his Bachelor's in History and his Master's degree in Social Science Education. He has taught at Lakewood High School for 15 years and is currently ATM's 10th Grade World History Teacher. Mr. Goldfischer has taken his passion for animals into the classroom where he is also teaching Odyssey's Management of Aquatic Life & Animals Course.
