Odyssey Academy Home
Odyssey Academy is a four-year STEM program that offers college rigor through hands-on experiences. The Odyssey Academy has created a strong and nurturing community of teachers and parents to provide students with the tools to be successful in college and career. This marine-themed science-based pathway offers students an opportunity for four years of science and the ability to acquire college credit while on campus! Students learn to communicate, collaborate, and advocate while in Odyssey! Our future stewards of the planet investigate the challenges of today and look to remedy them by applying what they have learned throughout their course of study. Odyssey's focus on environmental studies offers students a gateway to one of the fastest-growing industry sectors regionally and globally - Environmental Resources

Meet MS. "K" ODYSSEY LEAD TEACHER
Hello! My name is Ms. Yassi Khairolomour (Ms. K) and I am the 10th grade Odyssey Biology teacher. I teach Biology of Aquaculture which is a course that explores the principles of Biology through the lens of Aquaculture, a growing and innovative field that focuses on using ocean resources sustainably to help combat climate change. I am very passionate about environmental education and am excited to be a part of Odyssey where the students work to be the solution and make a change!
I grew up in Northern California, which is where my love of nature began, and then moved to Southern California to earn a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from UCLA. Before I began teaching full time, I was an informal educator and Program Director of a non-profit Outdoor Education organization here in Long Beach. In the 15 years I spent in this position, I had the opportunity to design and implement curriculum focusing on our Southern California marine habitats as well as lead and participate in research to help understand our changing climate. I have had the privilege of teaching and supervising camps on Catalina Island, conducting floating lab programs aboard a 120 ft Research Vessel and supporting students of all ages and backgrounds discover the joys of nature and science. I am now looking forward to working with our Odyssey students in discovering the living world around us and sustainably harnessing our natural resources in order to become college and career ready in this exciting and rewarding field.
