MEET MR. GJONOVICH   Mr. Gjonovich graduated from  CSULB. He holds a Master's Degree in Education from the  University of La Verne.  Mr. Gjonovich  began teaching at LHS in 1990.  He teaches Precalculus Honors and FST.  In his free time, he stays active by riding  his bike, motorcycle and going to the gym.

    Meet the Merit Teachers

    Meet  Mrs. McDaniel. Mrs. McDaniel teaches AP Spanish Language and Culture, Spanish 1-2  and Merit 101, a 9th grade pre-AP study skills elective course.  Mrs. McDaniel  is a long time Lancer, graduating from LHS in 1988! She went on to graduate from CSULB with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Chicano and Bilingual Studies. She also has a Master's degree from the University of La Verne in School Counseling. In her free time, she loves to camp and travel to Spanish Speaking countries with her family. Mrs. McDaniel - Lead Merit teacher

    Meet Ms. Magaña, Merit Scholar's Little Stick of Dynamite!

    Ms. Magaña graduated from CSU Long Beach with a BA in Comparative Literature. Ms. Magaña began teaching at LHS in 2004. She is teaching  AP Seminar and AP Research, helping students earn their AP Capstone Diploma. She is the Academic Decathlon Coach and she is the One World Club Advisor. She was Teacher of the Year for Long Beach Unified and Los Angeles County in 2016-2017 and WE's Global Educator Champion in 2017. When not teaching, she loves to travel, give back to the community, and listening to U2!  

    Meet Mrs. Boggan!

     Mrs. Boggan has been at LHS since 2015.  She teachers AP Calculus, Geometry and Merit 101.  She has a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Cal Poly SLO and a Master's degree in Mathematics from CSULB. As a native of the Central Coast, she loves to play outdoors and having fun with her husband and two children.

    Meet Mr. Anderson, Merit Scholars Counselor.  Mr. Anderson attended Long Beach schools, graduating from Wilson H.S. in 1980.  He earned a BA in Business Administration with an option in Accountancy in 1985 at CSULB.  After two misguided years as a corporate accountant,  he returned to CSULB, earning his MA in School Counseling in 1990.  Mr. Anderson counseled at Henry Elementary for 6½ years and then transferred to LHS (and has never left!).  When he's not spending time with his wife, two daughters or cats, he can be found backpacking, river rafting, surfing, and bouldering.

    Mr. Flanagan has been at Lakewood High School since 2015, teaching mostly AP US Government and AP Macroeconomics. He earned a bachelor's degree in History and a master's degree in Secondary Education at CSULB, after attending Wilson HS in Long Beach. Currently, he advises the Chess Club and Green Schools Campaign Club.

    Outside of school, he spends most of his time running around with his two-year old son Stanley, his wife Laura, and their dog Hera. As a family, they enjoy camping, hiking, cooking, and going to soccer matches (dále LAFC!). Hera's favorite activity is not listening to the lovely Mrs. Flanagan.Flanagan

    Meet Mr. Clarke  Mr. Clarke is the Merit Scholars' AP US History teacher.  He is also the advisor of the CRU Club and Adventure Club.  He graduated from CSU  Dominguez Hills with a degree in  Political Science and from Adams State University with a MA in US History.  In addition to being quite the historian, he loves sports...watching, coaching and playing.
